WEBINAR: Creating a Discussion Guide for Qualitative ResearchThis webinar, which is sponsored by the Clinical and Community Research Core of the Boston Nutrition Obesity Research Center will give you the tools you need to create an effective discussion guide for focus groups and key informant interviews. You will gain an understanding of how to start from a general research question and develop it into a practical and organized questioning route so that you’ll get the answers you need. We will cover all phases of development from brainstorming, to phrasing and sequencing questions, to pilot testing. You will learn best practices so that your groups and interviews will be maximally informative. This will be an interactive webinar with multiple opportunities to ask questions of the presenter.

WORKSHOP: Moderating Focus GroupsSponsored by the Clinical and Community Research Core of the Boston Nutrition Obesity Research Center
This workshop will briefly introduce participants to the best uses of focus groups and the basic logistics of setting up a focus group study, including recruitment, choosing a location, timing, proceedings, and budget concerns. The majority of our time together will be spent on moderation – techniques, tips, and tricks for getting the best possible data out of your groups. You’ll learn how to effectively handle challenging situations. All participants will have the opportunity to gain skills in moderation through practice with feedback.
